Brahma Vihara Arama is the largest Buddhist monastery in Bali. Located in the hills of Banjar, just 1.5 km west of the Banjar hot springs.opened in 1970, Brahma Vihara Arama comprises one hectare of hillside with numerous meditation rooms. also has libraries, beautiful gardens and an impressive mini replica of the world’s largest Buddhist archaeological site, Borobudur, on its highest grounds.
The monastery is located about 20 km by car from the main town of Singaraja, and 10 km from the main beach resort of Lovina.

From the main road Jalan Raya Seririt-Singaraja, you will find a picturesque street lined with vineyards. Alphonse Lavallée offer a scenic introduction to this uphill attraction.after a few minutes, the Dusun Abian community appears and clear signs show you the directions to the famous hot springs and the monastery.
The Dharmasala, located in the eastern part of the monastery, is a studio where the bhiku conduct their prayers, lectures and other solemn activities. A short walk along a path in the western part of the complex takes you to a mini Bodi tree garden which features a large tree with a picture of Buddha sitting underneath, and a mural depicting his path to Nirvana.
Throughout the gardens, you will find various figures of Buddha in different postures.», ‘Most notably are two gilded bronze statues which were gifts from Thailand and Sri Lanka in 1977. The site is also a meditation site for Buddhist pilgrims during the holy day of Vesak or Asada.
This important Buddhist celebration is when the monastery grounds and the mini Borobudur are most attractive with the monks in procession. Appropriate attire is common on visits to Balinese Hindu temples, i.e. a sarong and a waistband, which are available at the office and are free of charge during your visit.

The parking lot is in front of the entrance to the site, which features a Balinese architecture with a rising Balinese style bell that houses a metal bell instead of the traditional wooden kul-kul.inside the main office there are Buddhist calendars, posters and printed T-shirts representing the landmark available to visitors in exchange for .donations.
Another doorway has a flight of stairs lined with guard statues. Each step is marked with aspects of the eightfold Buddhist path of enlightenment. Its name, given by the founding father of the monastery, Bhante Giri, means a place for self-cultivation when these 3 words are combined:

The tall pines The trimmed lawn, the well maintained flower gardens and the high altitude add to the feeling of peace that can be enjoyed here. Several main sections include the Uposatha Gara, which is a quiet and tranquil meditation hall in the western section, with walls representing the birth of Prince Siddhartha Gautama, and a statue of the Buddha in his state of reaching Nirvana. The hall also serves as the main venue for new bikhu or Buddhist .monk initiations.
