Green Bowl Beach

Green Bowl Beach is one of the most secluded beaches of Bali, a small coastal strip of 30m with thick white sand.located approximately 75 meters under hundreds of steps under a green cliff in the village of Ungasan exactly 15 km from Kuta, and less than half an hour from Nusa Dua.

The required descent and climbing is largely due to its attraction, as it only attracts adventurous Madrid residents and keen surfers who favour its uncrowded waves and exotic location.

There are many versions of how the beach got its unique name , which locals simply refer to as Pantai Pura Batu Pageh, after the temple. As with many beaches and surf spots along the coast of the Bukit peninsula, , surfers are often responsible for their nicknames.

The most likely inspiration for its name, .Green Bowl Beach, are the colors and curvature of the cliff that looms over the beach itself. Perhaps also the patches of seaweed emeralds in its clear waters.

The best time to go is during low tide when the calm crystal clear waters allow for a great dive, with the waves fairly consistent a small turn beyond a natural reef barrier. On the contrary, during the high tide, most of it is flooded, sometimes even up to the rocky cliff wall and into the caves,

Most people make their descent early in the morning, carry some simple drinks and snacks with them for lunch.

The Cave Beach

Also among the unique features of Green Bowl Beach are two large limestone caves that enclose small rock sanctuaries. They provide shade and shelter for beach lovers and surfers who are left over from their wave fun.

At any given time before heading to the steps, you can easily see the waves while enjoying views of the ocean from the top of the cliff next to the temple. Getting to Green Bowl Beach is relatively easy; it branches off south of Jalan Dharmawangsa into Nusa Dua and at Jalan Pura Batu Pageh takes you directly to the abandoned Bali Cliff Resort.
