Gunung Payung beach, also known as Pantai Gunung Payung, is located on the south coast of Bali. it is one of the hidden beaches where you can find a remote and quiet environment on great seascapes.
The location takes its name from a Balinese Hindu temple complex with the same name (Pura Dhang Kahyangan Gunung Payung). It is located at the top of the cliff, where visitors can see before heading to the beach.3

It takes about half an hour drive from Kutuh village to Nusa Dua to reach Gunung Payung Beach. Along the main road Jalan Gunung Payung, you will also encounter the landscaped greens of the Bukit Pandawa Golf Club 18 holes along with its rugged limestone terrain.
Just outside the temple, you will see long tail grey macaques. Because they are more of the type that quiver compared to their notoriously daring counterparts in the cliff area of Uluwatu.
Pantai Gunung Payung Beach in Bali
The beach is a great effort to reach, due to a steep stretch of stairs which locals claim totaling around 300. Therefore when you arrive at the base, you will discover deep, coarse sand with calm waters ideal for snorkeling.
Precautions at Gunung Payung
The distance and effort needed to discover the beach is not touched by the vendors. Therefore, it is good to bring your own drinking water and maybe some snacks to replenish once you get there.
The natural barriers of the reef also means calm and suitable waters for most of the times. But beware of the thorny sea urchins that grow around these southern shores and the high tide conditions as there are no lifeguards nearby.
In addition, we recommend trips at midday when the seascape is clearer and the water warmer.
